William and Billy

Caught up in a rouge space/time eddy created by scientists playing with time travel, Billy is whisked back to his childhood home where he meets up with his younger self, William. As a child, William is precocious and driven with a passion to excel at his myriad and varied talents. As an adult, Billy has found happiness in ways that William disapproves of.

The setting can, of course, be any time, any place. It was inspired by a comment on A dank and storied night. I was struck by the contrast between the two forms of the name William: William sounding very grown up and Billy sounding very kid-like and then heightening the contrast by switching them.
